Adverse
Effects:
The incidence of gallbladder problems is increased in the obese
population and may be further increased during rapid weight loss. It
is recommended that you only lose 1% of your weight each week.
The
following may occur in association with low-calorie diets: cold
intolerance, dry skin, fatigue, lightheadedness, hair loss, bad
breath, low blood pressure, headache, and infrequency of bowel
movements.
If
you experience constipation, it may be because of inadequate
roughage or volume of bowel. To add bulk, try Fibercon tablets or
Metamucil powder; or add a cup of vegetables to your supplement at
lunch. If not, try flax seed oil capsules available at most vitamin
shops. Senokot and other over-the-counter laxatives or stool
softeners may help. If you continue to be constipated, discontinue
using the products until you have been checked by your doctor.
Constipation is extremely common and may be caused by something
else. |

Women:
Significant weight loss can be detrimental to a fetus. If you are
pregnant or planning to get pregnant, protein-supplemented fasting
is absolutely contraindicated. Should you
become pregnant while on the diet, you must discontinue and notify your physician.
|
| |
|
|
|
|
| |
Compliance:
It
is critical that you consume the daily recommended amount of protein
supplements, protein meal, salads and vegetables, water and
vitamins. You must continue with your other prescribed medication
unless advised by your physician. |

Hazardous
Activities: Since all low-calorie diets, including those
mentioned in this website, may cause lightheadedness, fatigue, low
blood pressure and other conditions that may affect your alertness,
you should refrain from hazardous activities such as piloting,
operating machinery, driving a motorcycle and so forth. |

Diagnostic
Tests:
It
is important that you are in good health before you start this
program. Visit your doctor before you start this home program. Inform him or her that you will be on a protein-sparing, modified
fasting (PSMF) low-calorie (900 to 1500 calories) using protein
supplements in combination with regular food.
Make sure that you had blood tests
within the last year. This diet is not appropriate for those with
kidney or liver conditions without physician supervision. |
| |
|
|
|
|
| |
Outcome:
Your
goal is to lose 10% of your weight to reduce the adverse
consequences of obesity. For most people, this means losing about 20
pounds. Most dieters can follow this program. Some, however, need
guidance similar to the need of some to have a personal trainer to
exercise effectively.
If you have given it all and you cannot lose weight, you
might have to be checked for medical conditions that contribute to
obesity. Click
