19 YEARS OF HELPING PEOPLE LOSE WEIGHT (since 1988)
After his residency training
at the New York Medical College, Dr. Romero went into private practice
in 1988. He was drawn to the treatment of obesity as a specialty and
became Board Certified in 1990 by the American Board of Bariatric
Medicine. He is one of the few diet doctors (about 300) honored with a Diplomate of the
American Board of Bariatric Medicine. Dr. Romero is the only
board-certified bariatrician on Long Island. He is also a member of the
American Society of Bariatric Physicians.

Very few
can be called physician-nutritionists. Dr. Romero is a Board
Certified Nutrition Specialist. The title CNS, which stands for
Certified Nutrition Specialist, is granted by the Certification
Board for Nutrition Specialists only to those showing proficiency in
nutrition through hundreds of hours of training and a comprehensive
examination. |

Dr.
Romero tries very hard to keep abreast of the latest research in
obesity, nutrition, behavioral modification and pharmacotherapeutics.
Having helped thousands of patients lose weight, he understands the
various factors that can lead one to gain excessive weight as to
compromise health. Compassion and guidance is his style, not
blame and neglect. It is not enough to tell the patient to simply
eat less, for if it were that simple, we would not see scientists,
doctors, lawyers, nutritionists and other educated people with
obesity.

In
his quest to be complete physician, Dr Romero traveled to Chengdu,
China to train in Acupuncture at a hospital totally dedicated to the
practice of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). He
is certified in the State of New York to practice acupuncture. |

Dr
Romero, realizing the importance of hypnosis in changing the eating
habits of his patients, has trained in medical hypnotherapy. He has
unceasingly searched for the limits of science to help and
understand his patients. |

Obesity is a complex
condition, and as such, needs a dedicated physician. |
